About Yunling
I didn't grow up drinking matcha. I grew up drinking tea.
In the mountains of Guizhou, tea isn't a trend. It's just part of the day. My uncle kept tea in the house the way other families keep rice — always there, never fussed over. That's where this started, long before I knew the word "matcha."
Years later I went looking for a matcha I actually wanted to drink. Most of what I found came from Japan, was hard to trace, and kept getting harder to buy. Meanwhile the tea I'd known my whole life was growing on hillsides above 1,200 metres, in cool mist, in soil that gives it a depth I hadn't tasted anywhere else — and almost no one outside China knew it as matcha at all.
So I made YUNLING.
YUNLING is single-origin matcha from the highlands of Guizhou. Not a blend. Not anonymous. One region, grown high and slow, stone-ground into matcha. We're not trying to copy Japanese matcha — we're offering something that stands on its own: brighter, greener, with a character that comes from where it's grown.
I'm a one-person company, for now. I choose the tea, I write these words, I pack the orders. If you email me at hello@yunlingtea.com, you're emailing me.
Thank you for being here. I hope it finds a place in your day, the way it always had a place in mine.
